An English typing assessment measures what you entered during a particular timed passage. Read speed and accuracy together rather than treating either as the whole result.
Correct-character words per minute
This website uses five correct characters as one standard word unit. Correct-character WPM is the number of correct matches divided by five and then by the elapsed minutes. Spaces and punctuation are part of the source passage; they affect the count.
Position-based character accuracy
Each typed character is compared with the source character at the same position. Correct matches divided by all typed characters gives the percentage. An extra or missing character can move subsequent text out of alignment, reducing accuracy even when later words look familiar.
Compare like with like
Use similar passages and the same duration when reviewing progress. An unfamiliar topic or punctuation pattern can affect a session. Practise recurring errors deliberately, then return to a timed passage at a comfortable pace.
Know what the assessment establishes
A session result records performance under the stated conditions. The standard interface blocks ordinary paste and drop, but it is not a proctored identity examination. Staff review paid assessments and purchases before issuing a certificate.
